Although most of them are similar and can be put in the same group of flexible weapons, there are some exceptions like sjambok or stingray tail. The //Latigo// word can have two meanings. First, is whip in [[Tagalog]] language, but the second is type of leather. So searching for //latigo whip// can take us to area completely not related to Filipino whip. ==== General ==== * History * Types (bull-whip, snake, stock whip, Filipino rope whip, [[sjambok|Sjambok]], stingray tail(http://kaligear.com/2008/08/whip-of-stingray.html), cossack whip * [[whip_making|How to make a whip]] > The flexible weapons (ligas armas) in category eight include the flail (panlugas, tayak tobok), whip (latiko, kaburata), chain (cadena), and stingray tail (ikog-pagi). Like the Okinawan/Japanese nunchaku, the flail is a farm tool (rice thresher). Flails are portable, concealable, and quick to strike their targets, but difficult to control. Rikarte Eskrima prefers short whips, approximately 6 feet long. Panandata Arnis uses a 52- or 60-inch horsewhip. Filemon Canete made 12-foot-long rope whips by hand and wove spells into them. This is considered to be Christian white magic. Although it stings and is useful for punishing restrained persons, the whip is not adequate for combat. Heavier and more flexible than the whip, the chain (la cadena) requires the right timing for adequate striking. The stingray tail is usually about a yard long or more. After sun drying, the stingray tail gets hard and leathery and has sharp spiky edges that tear. The stingray tail is considered suitable for crowd control. source(http://xn--80ash2a.xn--p1ai/tour/en/Style-Martial-arts/Eskrima-Arnis-Kali) ==== Fighting Systems ==== * [[latigo_y_daga|Latigo y Daga]] * [[tibetan_wave|Tibetan Wave]] * [[kali_sayoc|Kali Sayoc Whip]] * [[canete_latigo|Canete Rope Whip]] * Pambuan Arnis Latigo (https://www.facebook.com/Pambuan-Arnis-184323381687257/, http://pambuanarnis.tripod.com, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NCPRS9sx8Q) * [[pananandata|Pananandata]] * Whipboxing * [[bodlak_combat_whip|Bodlak Combat Whip]] * [[vagrant_whip|Vagrant Whip]] ==== Unaffiliated ==== * [[snookie_sanchez|Snookie Sanchez]] * [[james_keating|James Keating]] * [[restita_dejesus|Restita DeJesus]] ==== References ==== * Tom Meadows: "The Filipino Fighting Whip: Advanced Training Methods and Combat Applications", Paladin Press 2005 * Anthony Delongis: Mastering BullWhip DVD Vol 1-4, Palpable Hit Productions * [[https://sayoc.com/shop/sayoc-kali-whip-introduction-dvd/|Sayoc Kali Whip Introduction DVD]] * [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idQ-WQ2PJj0|Tibetan Wave: Filipino Fighting Whip (soon)]] * [[http://www.alliancemartialarts.com/dvd%20catalog/Flexible%20Weapons%20DVDs.htm|Combative whip]] * [[https://www.warrenerentertainment.com/mastering-the-whip/#product-description|Mastering the whip]][[https://www.amazon.com/Whip-Mastering-Master-Pei-Yun/dp/B002HT5RFK|Mastering the whip]] ==== Misc ==== * [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HID4lIvgD4|Bullwhip as weapon demo at Seattle International Martial Arts Championships ]] * [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUr3Xe8ehH8|Bagua Whip]] * [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kf4PpcT26UM|SAYOC PHILIPPINES / PRESENT PAMBUAN ARNIS]] * [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4Ba57q9fzc|Balitok Eskrima Grandmaster Abner Pasa]] * [[shaolin_bullwhip|Shaolin Bullwhip]] * http://www.angelfire.com/art/enchanter/scarv.html * [[jumeogbikwan|Jumeog Bi Kwan]] * [[chicote|Mexican whip]] * [[https://youtu.be/XD-YBWkvrGk?t=235|Dog Brothers bullwhip vs towel]]
